Privacy Policy
NIAGARA FALLS AIR FORCE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION MEMBER PRIVACY POLICY
The Credit Union recognizes its responsibility to protect the privacy of a member’s nonpublic personal information. The purpose of this policy is to set forth the guidelines under which such information may be shared with third parties. It is the intent of the Credit Union and any of its affiliates to abide by all applicable laws and regulations governing the privacy of nonpublic personal information. (See attached privacy notice that is provided to members).
The Board of Directors shall be responsible for any joint marketing agreements with other service providers, and to ensure that these agreements comply with the provisions adopted in this policy. A privacy notice shall be mailed to all account holders yearly which shall detail to our membership the provisions and scope provided in this policy. These notices shall also become part of the New Membership Packets provided new account holders. The Board of Directors may review the scope of any marketing agreements as it deems necessary. If any changes to the provisions and limits set forth in this policy are made, notification by mail must be made to the entire membership.
Privacy regulations allow members to “opt out” of having their information disclosed to third parties in certain situations. Before the credit union discloses any member information to a nonaffiliated third party that is not otherwise covered by a disclosure exception, the credit union will properly inform members of their right to “opt out”. “Opt out” requests can be phoned in or mailed to the credit union.
The credit union shall restrict access to nonpublic personal information to employees and staff who have a specific business purpose in utilizing member data. The credit union shall also maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to protect any member information.
